Oakland Young Writers 2012

A digital anthology of the 2012 summer session, grades 4-8

Welcome!

We invite you to share in the journey that our young writers helped to create and take us on during our two weeks together. The time we spent exploring, discussing, reading, and writing produced honest and unique pieces. A close community of writers, each of whom trust and support one another, is invaluable; the willingness of each member of our community to trust each other, to take risks, and to delve fully into unknown territory is largely what makes these young writers artists. Their treatment of and creativity with the written and spoken word is inspiring to all of us fortunate enough to have the opportunity to write with them. We hope you enjoy reading the pieces they have chosen to share. Please feel free to leave an encouraging comment on any of our writer’s pages.

Thank you to Elisa Greb, Ella Macklin, Amanda Wilch, Chris Lee, Nick Maydak, Joshua Won, Chelsea McGraw, and Bill Kirchner, as well as our guest writers and artist, for sharing their voices, experience, and creative talents with our young writers.
