Looking for Love

A boy looking for love is a dog without food; it won’t survive long.

He looks for love but never finds it,

Leaving behind a broken home of violence and abuse,

Suffering from the trials and tragedies he experienced,

He’s exploring the city at night with demons lurking in the dark looking for more victims,

Time is running out for the young boy,

Thinking to himself, “Will I ever find love?”

It’s getting late with the stars being covered by the skyscrapers,

The boy notices people using foul words and drunkies walking down the street,

Holding empty beer bottles and cursing aloud,

He thinks to himself is this what life is like without love,

He soon realizes that he needs to find help,

Running around he finally runs into a pastor,

He looks up with a smile and is excited –

He realizes he is safe for now

***

Mentally Lost

I am a boy caught up in the downfalls of the world,

Brother of love and hate

Who would like nothing more than peace,

Who needs protection and help,

Who is proud of my achievements,

Who dreams about changing lives,

I am a boy without love

 ***

Runaway Child

I am the brother of darkness and the son of hate; my life is filled with sadness

I have finally escaped a household filled with profanity and abuse

My life is in danger; police officers are looking for me

Sometimes I think to myself, “What did I do to deserve this?”

I can’t escape my neighborhood; I don’t have anywhere else to go.

All I see are needles on the streets and people fighting,

All I want is peace,

I think to myself that, “I’m worthless,”

And I can’t survive on my own

 ***

Apocalypse

Bleeding and screaming with pure red eyes,

I wonder if this is real,

I see people biting each other,

I wonder if this is a nightmare,

Someone please wake me up if I’m asleep.

Here comes another chasing after me,

Sometimes I wonder if I will die,

I’m powerless, now I know I will not survive
